(A writing to Dewey Gillespie
from a very respected friend AJH)
I am of the sincere
opinion that it is virtually impossible to concoct a pattern or devise a fly
that has not been made at least once before. Some of the latest developments,
according to the real historians, are not new at all, but are in more than a
few instances, merely new names applied to patterns as old as ninety-five
years or more.
